When You Lose Your Center

Center of Leadership

I know when you’re off balance.

I can feel it in your hands, your seat, your breath.

At first, you start clear—centered, focused, kind.

You ask. I listen.

We both feel in rhythm.

But then something shifts.

Your body tightens.

Your requests get sharper.

The rhythm turns into rush.

You might think I’m the one who changed.

But I’m just reflecting what’s happening inside you.

I don’t know your deadlines.

I don’t know your frustrations.

But I know when your mind leaves the moment.

I know when you stop following your own plan.

And when that happens, it gets hard for me too.

I start to wonder:

Am I safe?

Am I doing it wrong?

Should I brace for more pressure?

I feel your reactivity, even if you’re trying to hide it.

Here’s what I’ve learned about us:

When you lose your center, I lose mine.

When you feel out of control, I feel it too.

But when you breathe—when you come back to your principles—I feel safe to follow.

Not because you’re perfect.

But because you’re present again.

Leadership Principle:

To lead me well, you must lead yourself first.

Your emotional balance sets the tone for mine.

Take care of your center—so we both can stay grounded, no matter what comes.
